Block 1 — 23:00

Caller: Yes (rolled 5 — urgent/distressed) Caller card: Nine of Diamonds — mundane life grinding them down

Male, sixties. Montana local. He’d sold the farm eighteen months prior — bad back, bad margins. Said the Santaolalla had sounded like something ending and he’d wanted to let somebody know the radio was on.

Thirty-one years on the same land. Now he walks the house at night with nothing to do with his hands.

Oso thanked him for the check-in. Kept it short. He didn’t need more than that.

Block 2 — 00:00

Caller: No (rolled 2)

Frost beginning on the east-facing glass, lower corner. Fine lines. Not legible yet.

Block 3 — 01:05

Caller: Yes (rolled 4 — standard) Caller card: Queen of Spades — something witchy, occult

Female. Age indeterminate. Her accent placed her nowhere specific. No ambient sound in the background — the wrong kind of empty, not silence but absence.

She said she’d been listening most nights. She called to ask whether the frost patterns on the east window repeated.

She knew about the east window. Oso hadn’t mentioned it.

She has been cataloguing similar patterns: glass, still water, and one mirror she no longer owns. She believes a recurring shape is directional — that it indicates something rather than merely forms. She wanted to know if Oso had seen repetition.

Oso cited Herodotus. You can’t step in the same river twice — time changes things, in the mind and in the world. Encouraged her to keep cataloguing.

Herodotus, she said. Good. Most people give me Jung.

She signed off cleanly. No static. No click.

Oso named her: the Collector.

Block 4 — 02:05

Caller: No (rolled 1)

The broadcast closed clean. The frost on the east glass had spread but resolved without event.

Grey-blue at the eastern horizon. Nothing crossed tonight.

Oso Sur — Personal Notes

The farmer in block one sat with me. Thirty-one years on the same land and now he’s walking a house at night with nothing to do with his hands. Santaolalla got to him before I did. Sometimes the music does the work.

The Collector is a new one. She knew about the frost — not a guess, a confirmation. She asked with the precision of someone who already had the answer and wanted to see if I did too. The mirror she no longer owns is worth noting. The fact that she’s been listening most nights is worth noting. The silence around her voice is worth noting most of all.

The star near the Pleiades that I logged at session open was gone by close. Not moved. Gone. I don’t know what that means yet. I’m writing it down.

The transmitter behaved. No equipment events tonight.
